Biography:
My family moved from New Jersey to Newport News, VA when I was about seven years old, my sister ten, my brother four. That was my dad’s last work-related move, and I’ve been here ever since. We began attending Trinity Lutheran Church shortly thereafter when services were still being held in the downtown Newport News location and joined about a year later. My parents were members until their deaths, my brother and sister until marriage and jobs took them out of the area. I’ve been a member here since then.
In 1980, I began working as one of two part-time school treasurers with Kit Watt of the church serving as head treasurer. In 1983, I began working part-time in the school extended care program. I continued in those two positions for about ten years adding additional duties as various employees and volunteers retired. In 1993, I began working as the treasurer for both church and school. In 1998, I began teaching middle school Language Arts and continued to do that for 15 years. Since then, I have served as the church treasurer. Overall, it has been my honor to work for the church and school for over 40 years. I also think it’s noteworthy that, except for my birth and baptism, every important event in my life has occurred while I was a member of the Trinity family.
