Christian Ed

Church Committee

Christian Education is a committee made up of Sunday School teachers and folks who have an interest in furthering the education of members of the congregation of all ages. Christian Education extends beyond classroom settings and we are always looking for people who are willing to give a little time to help create, develop, and assist with these learning opportunities.

Currently serving on the committee are: Karoline Ardis, Carol Bessom, Patricia McClelland, Kelly Rummel, and Kathy Stevens (chair).

On average we meet once a year. We would be delighted to join with others who are interested in assisting in a variety of roles within the church. Christian Ed goes beyond Sunday School! Those on the committee are currently active teachers in the three Sunday School classes at Trinity: adults, youth, and elementary students, as well as First Communion. In the past we also had music classes for toddlers.

But Christian Education doesn’t mean you have to teach a class! There are lots of ways you can support the classroom teachers and others who are leading learning activities and events:

  • Plan a lesson
  • Purchase/collect supplies for a lesson
  • Supply snacks for any of the classes
  • Facilitate or lead a discussion in an adult class or other event
  • Be a substitute leader for one of the regular Sunday classes
  • Research Sunday School curriculum for elementary or youth classes
  • Network to find other parents who might be looking for a Sunday School class
  • Coordinate discussion events with Pastor Tina and/or other committees
  • Plan/prepare activities for learning events
  • Coordinate special speakers
  • Research books or reading materials
  • Preview/review movies for discussion nights
  • Brainstorm ideas for new learning opportunities
