Our Mission
RIC stands for Reconciling In Christ and is a program of the ELCA- and ELCIC-supported Reconciling Works organization. Trinity Lutheran Church is currently working through the program to become an RIC partner. “The purpose of the RIC program is to ensure the welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions; work for racial equity and commit to anti-racist work and support the national program.”
Our Outreach
Faith, Friends, & Fellowship discussion group: Meets every 2nd Sunday of the month to enjoy refreshments and lively discussion about topics concerning social justice, equity, and inclusion for all of God’s beloved children.
Some examples of recent TLC RIC events include:
- Weekly devotionals – shared with the congregation at the start of church services – from the book “Queers The Word: A 40 day Devotional for LGBTQ+ Christians”
- A screening of the movie “The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson” an LGBTQIA+ pioneer
- A Rainbow Potluck dinner and friendship bracelet making social event
- Various “Faith Journey” presentations by LGBTQIA+ congregants and RIC core team members
- A group trip to see the musical “The Prom” performed by our local community theater
